THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE CHANGE MIND CHANGE FUTURE ORGANIZATION.
After I attended the One Young World summit in Zurich, Switzerland
I was so inspired from learning a lot especially on leadership and social
entrepreneurship. Above all, it was time for me give back to my society what I learned
at OYW. When I attended the summit in September, I met amazing young people
from around the world that inspired me to dream big and think out of the box.
I came back home to Kenya and thought about what I could do
to bring the change I would like to see to inspire others to dream bigger too.
I started
Change Mind
Change Future Organization at the end of 2011, but we officially got our
certificate in April 2012.
CMCF idea was amazing that people really
liked the idea and a few mentorship programs we started. Through
CMCF, I was selected to represent Kenya
in a global competition called “Your Big Year.” I made it to the top 16 out of
the 65,000 applicants. With “Your Big Year” (
www.yourbigyear.com) I traveled to the United Kingdom, all expenses
paid for by
Smaller Earth (
www.smallereath.com). Currently I
am in the United States as a volunteer The Global peace and we have been moving
to over 15 different states doing community service and learning the diverse
culture in the United States.
Change Mind, Change
Future is a Non-governmental organization that offers mentorship to primary
and secondary schools in Kenya. The organization focuses on positive thinking
and social entrepreneurship. This is achieved through visits to schools and
giving talks on various aspects of life that would deter a normal kid from
reaching out for his/her dreams and being inspired to work smart and to
persistently pursue their dreams.
The sole intention of this mentor ship NGO is tapping talents
and nurturing potential brains which will later revolutionize the global
business and every aspect of life around the world, both now and in future.
Change Mind Change
Future was organized in November 2011 but started operation officially in
January 2012 after being registered as a Non-Governmental Organization by the board
of Kenyan Registration of NGO, under the Kenyan registration act. CMCF was built up by Calvin Jodisi, a young
actuarial science graduate and a finalist for “'Your Big Year 2012” as an
Ambassador to “One Young World.” Through the support of Stephen Machua who is
the CEO of CMCF and a young Commerce student. Passionate about change, we have
34 volunteers and One Brand Ambassador who is a Kenyan based musician, who love
CMCF and are always ready to work to make our program better. We started CMCF
together, and so far we are working with three schools in the mentorship
program.
Our mentorship program has a unique model; we focus on how
we can make the student be more accountable and make the changes they feel will
affect their lives.
As an organization, we are very happy to inspire many young
people in our country and give them a new meaning of life.

FUTURE PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES
1. Books for Future
Project:
This is a project that aims at encouraging the students to create a reading
culture for a better future. Our goal is to provide at least 100 books per
school, both text books and story books, which can then be shared by the
students. We have a goal of setting over 20 small, local libraries per year.
How to partner?
- Help CMCF collect story books from your
country.
- Link
up CMCF with organizations or
companies to form partnership for the book project.
- Organize
and share shipping cargo containers for the book project.
2. “Inspirational Unlimited” NEWSPAPER BAG PROJECT:
This is an initiative by IU to convert newspapers into bags
& provide them to different shopping outlets in the vicinity to encourage
them to reduce the use of plastic bags.
The sagacious planning and calculation of all the impacts
these projects can have is something that gives a unique touch to this project
of being able to serve multiple purposes, and still be extremely simple in its
execution.
Change Mind Change Future
believes in staying and living green and that is why we came up with the
recycling newspaper waste into bags.
BRIGHT EDUCATION
Bright Education
is an initiative CMCF started to support students from the disabled community
and also give them mentorship and support him/her excels in education through
our University volunteers.
We currently support one student, but our plan is to support
five or more per year. Bright Education
is a model to give the beneficiaries a proper education so that they come out
as viable students in the communities.
We currently have been sponsoring 7-year-old
Brigid Cherop from a single parent
Mother of five. The mother has no job, nor her own house, but rents a house. Brigid
likes singing and would like to be a teacher in future. She is in the 1st
grade (or class one). CMCF believe that Brigid has a great future.
